Miss Continental World 2026: Nigeria’s Oma Osele takes first crown

Iruomachukwu Oma Osele is the first woman ever crowned Miss Continental World. The Nigerian model won the inaugural edition of the pageant in Ayutthaya, Thailand, with news of her victory reaching home on the night of Friday, 9 October.

She did not stop at the crown. Osele also left Thailand with three special awards: Queen of Africa, Best National Costume and Best Physique. Leadership and The Nation reported the first two, and OkayAfrica and Enugu Online TV listed all three.

For a 28-year-old who entered the international contest as the reigning EliteGlam Pageant Nigeria queen, it caps a campaign that had been building since September.

Oma Osele is a 28-year-old medical laboratory scientist, entrepreneur and model from Lagos, Leadership reported. She qualified for the world final by winning EliteGlam Pageant Nigeria 2025.

Away from the stage, she runs her own businesses. When GistMatrix checked her Instagram page, @oma_osele, at about 9:20pm WAT on Saturday, 10 October, her bio described her as CEO of two brands, @omassecret and @afroma_hairs, and as a health advocate. The page had 2,968 followers.

Oma Osele won by building support long before the final night. In September she received the pageant’s World Premiere Award after topping a global fan vote on Eventista’s 1Vote platform, finishing ahead of India’s Monica Konjengbam and Thailand’s Pornpaya Rianju, Leadership reported. The prize came with a promotion package that included an AP News press release.

In Thailand she added the Queen of Africa award and Best National Costume for her cultural outfit, before the judges handed her the main crown. Reports differ on who finished first runner-up, with Leadership naming India’s Shreeya Panda and India’s Northeast Today naming Monica Konjengbam.

Miss Continental World is a new international pageant run by the Continental World Organization (CONWOR), a Bangkok-based company chaired by Thanyasa Tajinda. In a press release in July, CONWOR scheduled its first world finals for 4 to 10 October 2026 in Bangkok and Ayutthaya, alongside a male contest, Mister Continental World.

Nigeria entered through a national licence. The same release named Emmanuel Oku as master licensee for Miss and Mister Continental World in Nigeria.

Nigeria also made the top five in the men’s contest. Unwana Sambo Essien finished third runner-up at Mister Continental World 2026 and won the King of Kings title and the men’s Best National Costume, according to Leadership. The Mister crown went to India’s Karnajit Ningthoujam, a 21-year-old model from Manipur, Northeast Today reported.

The double result adds to a strong run for Nigerian women on international stages. Chidimma Adetshina finished first runner-up at Miss Universe 2024, as The Nation noted in its report.
