Privacy policy

This policy explains how GistMatrix, owned by XL Creative Hub, collects and uses personal data, in line with the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023. It applies to this website and to our forms.

What we collect

• Details you give us when you sign up for the newsletter, send a video, contact us, make a complaint or send a partnership enquiry: for example your name, email address, WhatsApp number and message.
• Comments you post, with the name and email address you enter.
• Basic technical data such as your IP address, used to protect our forms from spam and abuse.
• Preferences on your device. Dark mode, data saver and text size are saved in your own browser and are never sent to us.

We count how many times a story is read and how people react to it, without identifying who you are.

Why we use it

• To send you the newsletter or WhatsApp updates you asked for (your consent).
• To reply to you, handle your submission, complaint or enquiry (your consent and our legitimate interests).
• To keep the site secure and prevent spam (our legitimate interests).

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with service providers who help us run GistMatrix, such as our web host and email provider, under contracts that protect it, or where the law requires.

How long we keep it

We keep newsletter details until you unsubscribe, and other form entries for up to two years unless the law requires longer.

Your rights

You can ask to see, correct or delete your data, object to how we use it, or withdraw your consent at any time. Contact us using the form on our contact page and choose “Privacy and my data”. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.

Our forms are for people aged 18 and over.

If we change this policy, we will update the date at the bottom of this page.
