Alan Ritchson sings Michael Jackson’s Human Nature, and the internet is not booing

Jack Reacher does not usually do ballads. Alan Ritchson does. The 43-year-old actor, who plays the hulking ex-military cop in Prime Video’s Reacher, posted a video of himself singing Michael Jackson’s “Human Nature” in a hotel room on Friday, 16 October.

He undersold it. “A weak hotel room attempt at #HumanNature for your viewing pleasure or scorn!” he wrote on Instagram. His 6.7 million followers mostly went with pleasure: within two days the reel had passed 445,000 likes.

The clip is the latest in a run of singing posts that keep surprising people who only know him for the fists. But the voice was never a secret.

“Human Nature” is one of the quieter songs on Jackson’s 1982 album Thriller, released as a single in 1983. It needs a soft, high voice, not the gravel most people would expect from the man who plays Reacher.
